Six:30 #RUNnewbie project! (PR)

It has been 2 years since the inception of six:30 running group when 5 individuals gathered in front of the Quezon Hall of UP Diliman. Since then, 60 members have already joined from different places and have graduated from enthusiasts to runners.
This year, six:30 is opening its doors again, not only those who run in UP Diliman but also inBonifacio Global City! You read it right, the Barneys will now have two groups and will be facilitated by the members themselves. No need to register, just be there with your running attire as we share our passion in running. Be a member of six:30 and let us continue sharing the passion!

Epic Relay 250 : Leg 8, 18, & 28 by Teejae Amorado

A shyly-fast runner (meron ba non?). Wouldn't say a thing and let his finish-times speak for him. His actions speaks louder than words especially when I saw him with his groovy moves in the tune of "Call Me Maybe". One strong runner who completes the Six:30 10-man Epic Team! Thanks TeeJae! Epic Relay 250 : Leg 7, 17, & 27 - Allan Ray Enriquez

Leaders are often not used to praises. They would give the credits of the group's accomplishments to the people he leads rather than plucking feathers for his own hat. This article now depicts one great leader who single-handedly dealt with all the epic trials before this epic dream became a reality. The father of Six:30 Epic Adventure - Allan Ray Enriquez (aka Running Free Manila). Thank you so much RFM for permitting me to repost your inspiring story. Iba ka!!

Epic Relay 250 : Leg 6, 16, & 26 - Tina Deray

She's always in the lead pack in every training sessions of Six:30 running group and could easily keep up the pace. Actually, its difficult for her to run slow. I'm a witness of how strong she had become under the coaching supervision of Allan. She's strong and could run through her injury if she have to. She's determined and would train in the rain if she needs to. A pure bred purple Barney - Tina Deray. And here's her Epic Story.

Epic Relay 250 : Leg 5, 15, & 25 by Glo Arbatin Labao

Runner #5 happens to be the only (running) rose among the (running) thorns in Van #1. But being the muse doesn't mean she'll be the slowest. As an assistant team leader of AdiNation of Runners (UP Diliman), her reputation of being fast and strong were all evident in the recently concluded Chris Sports 250K Epic Relay. Decorated with fast-marathon times here and abroad, here's Glo Arbatin Labao and her Epic Story.

Epic Relay 250 : Leg 3, 13, & 23 by Jayson Escobar

One could show his true fighting spirit through running. When the pain starts setting-in, that is the time when men gets ahead and be separated from the boys. I have seen the level of difficulties of leg 3, 13, and 23. And by the looks of it, there's no doubt that Jayson Escobar pulled them of with flying colors. The runner that motivates me whenever I see him dashing towards me - Jayson Escobar. And this is his account of Six:30 Epic Adventure.

Epic Relay 250 : Leg 2, 12, & 22 by Carlo Molod

Looks could be very deceiving. This guy might look chubby and heavy but I tell you, he's a fast runner. With his stride rate of more than 180 steps per minute, keeping up with him would mean that I'll be huffin and puffin the rest of the way. His challenge on the epic relay wasn't really the speed requirement but rather how will he survive running alone without his ever faithful running companion - his MP3 player. A jolly and high spirited runner Carlo Molod and his Epic Adventure story.

Epic Relay 250 : Leg 1, 11, & 21 by RJay Mercado

I'm so proud that this guy is my recruit. By the moment I knew that he started running, I already asked him to join Six:30 running group and be one of the Barneys. We are working under the same umbrella of the Department of Agriculture. And even after so many meetings and workshops that we gone through together, I can only say so little about him. He is quite reserved and soft spoken. His actions and accomplishments in the office speaks louder than his few words. He is used to doing the hard work and letting others take the credits that were rightfully his. Blessed with a wife and daughter, he efficiently manages his time squeezing-in his hardcore training to his family life and career. Proud to present the fast runner #1 of Six:30 Epic Relay Team - RJay Mercado.

Epic Relay 250 : Leg 14 - Deceitful Heads-up

I’m eager to run leg 14. I need to get back in the game after being badly beaten under the heat of the sun in my last run. The elevation-profile of leg 14 shows that it is downhill. And I’m determined to use this to my advantage. But the supposed heads-up from the race bible will turn out to be my worst nightmare.

Epic Relay 250 : Leg 24 - Push From A Ghost

Rjay gave his all on leg 21. He cut the lead of the 12th team from 20 minutes down to 5. He did it by clocking his 6.7 kilometers in 31 minutes. Then Carlo capitalized on it by reeling his counterpart in leg 22 and finishing 200 meters ahead. Yey! Van 1 got possessed with the spirit of competitiveness. With all the excitements of team members after taking the 12th rank, I was silently praying that Jason could expand the lead longer.

BARNEY-fied!

New set of runners started to be Barney chasers as they attended this years’ first general assembly (GA) of Six:30 running group. We ran, chat, ate, laugh, and had a great time together welcoming new members of Six:30 running family.

Purple Barneys on Green & White Run

Last Sunday April 1 2012, Nette and I (the running castles) were privileged to represent the Barneys in La Salle's Green & White Run. We got complimentary race kits that were given by Greentennial Run for Six:30 running group (thanks RFM). Both Nette and I gave justice  representing Six:30 running group by breaking our respective 10K PR's.

The Taste of Marathon Triumph

Four hundred eighty three, almost five hundred lives changes after crossing the finish line. More than five hundred different stories of life changing experience. One could write about all these stories of fulfillment and have one inspiring book for the world to read. For now, let me share my own vantage point of this one of a kind marathon event in the Philippines - The Bull Runner Dream Marathon 2012.

TBR Dream Marathon 2012 : From One Loving Friend's Perspective

As I was writing a blog about my TBR Dream Marathon experience, this video came out. I managed not to let my tears drop as I cross that finish line but this video really pinched my heart. Thank you so much Jenny. Thank you so much my Six:30 family.

Fulfillment of Dream Within Reach (Bull Session 5 - 32K)

Five months ago, I decided to put up this blog site after writing  Dreamer in the Castle as my first entry. The article was not actually intended for a blog. Its my thank you letter for those who supported me financially in pursuing my TBR Dream Marathon. Then I suddenly thought of sending the article to Jamie hoping that it could get a cut in the inbox section of TBR magazine where chosen e-mails get to win a pair of Nike shoes. Jamie replied and said:

Barneys Train in the Rain

Definitely not my first to run in the rain, but last night was certainly one of my most enjoyed night run-in-the-rain. A perfect blend of serious long hill repeats,  short sprints, and a combination of both for the finale will simply burst your lungs out. But doing it with the Barneys made it like an invigorating 3-in-1 instant coffee made to perfection for such a rainy day. That is the most vivid description I could ever give just to describe how wonderful our training night was. The barneys were smokin hot - literally.
